Who was John Slater?

Summary

John Slater was the younger brother to  William Slater and became a school teacher. Later in his life, he styled himself as  Dr and we assume he qualified as a PhD as we have not information suggesting he took any medical training.  Among his life long ambitions was to be an artist and he spent much time and money attending exhibitions in London with the intention of improving his skills. One of his paintings remains in the possession of the family.

Highland Cattle (15" X 10") Framed in 1941. No signature evident on front.
