The agenda for the day shows appropriate 36 gun salute, church bells ringing, all businesses closed , flags displayed and returned soldiers honored.

NOTE: The fact that Thomas Jackson was appointed one of the two vice-presidents for the events indicates that he had acquired a prominence within the community.
